Microsoft's Open XML Compatibility specification is now available.
Catch is - it's only available as a Word document inside an Exe file that will run only on Win32 platforms. I'm pretty sure they don't see the irony :)

Pivush -- nice point. I used to get into arguments with Sun Microsystems over its definition of "open." And thanks for your comments on my blog.
